Code of Ethics

I acknowledge and agree to always honestly represent my qualifications, including education, certifications, and experience, and to always follow the Codes of Ethics as listed below.

Tarot

As a professional tarot reader, I…

  • Use tarot as a tool for empowerment. This means I strive to frame things in a positive light, and guide clients to see their strengths and skills, to feel empowered to make the right decisions for themselves at all times. It is my duty to ensure you have the best experience possible.

  • Believe that we are all agents of free will. Therefore, my tarot readings are not meant to be predictive in nature, but rather to guide you in making the right decisions to either seek or avoid particular predictable outcomes. A tarot reading should help you be self-reflective, gain new perspectives, and help you determine what course of action you’d like to pursue.

  • Believe that a good reading is a conversation. I will ask questions during a reading in order to offer the best insights possible. A reading will really open up when the client is willing to discuss the themes at hand.

  • Am always clear in expressing that anything said during a tarot reading should be taken as suggestion only, and all decisions are the clients responsibility. I will never tell you what to do. As a certified coach, I may counsel you during a Tarot reading following a strict code of ethics.

  • Am always open and honest in my readings. This means I will clearly differentiate between what the cards are imparting vs. my own opinions or thought vs. channeled messages I may receive from spirit guides. I respect my limitations, should I not be able to provide the services or support my clients need, I will always refer them to appropriate professionals.

  • Am willing to share resources and tips for digging deeper into the meaning of the cards, the spread used, or provide any other information in the spirit of teaching. I will never gatekeep tarot “secrets”.

  • Create a safe space. Readings are always non-judgmental and supportive of all positive expressions of being and belief. Any referrals suggested by Lamplighter will also be a safe space. If you ever feel otherwise, please feel free to inform me and I will take immediate action to correct the situation.

  • Center readings on the present client(s). If you are looking for more information on how another person is feeling, know that it will always be presented through your own lens, unless the other person is present or has given explicit permission to be read.

  • I respect the client’s right to refuse or terminate their reading at any time, regardless of prior consent, subject to cancellation policies.

Coaching

As a Certified Coaching Professional, I…

  • Explain and ensure that, my coaching clients understand the nature and potential value of coaching, the nature and limits of confidentiality, financial arrangements, and any other terms of the coaching agreement.

  • Create an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and rights of all parties involved prior to the commencement of services.

  • Remain alert to indications that there might be a shift in the value received from the coaching relationship. If so, make a change in the relationship or encourage clients to seek another coach, seek another professional, or use a different resource.

  • Assure consistent quality of coaching regardless of the amount or form of agreed compensation in any relationship.

  • Recognize my personal limitations or circumstances that may impair, conflict with or interfere with my coaching performance or my professional coaching relationships. I will reach out for support to determine the action to be taken and, if necessary, promptly seek relevant professional guidance. This may include suspending or terminating my coaching relationship.

  • Commit to excellence through continued personal, professional and ethical development.

  • Hold responsibility for being aware of and setting clear, appropriate and culturally sensitive boundaries that govern interactions, physical or otherwise.

  • Do not participate in any sexual or romantic engagement with clients. I will be ever mindful of the level of intimacy appropriate for the relationship. I take the appropriate action to address the issue or cancel the coaching engagement.

  • Avoid discrimination by maintaining fairness and equality in all activities and operations, while respecting local rules and cultural practices.

  • Am aware of my and my clients’ impact on society. I adhere to the philosophy of “doing good,” versus “avoiding bad.”

  • Respect clients right to terminate the coaching relationship at any point for any reason during the coaching process subject to the cancellation policies.

  • Am aware of and actively manage any power or status difference between the Client and me that may be caused by cultural, relational, psychological or contextual issues.

  • Identify accurately my coaching qualifications, my level of coaching competency, expertise, experience, training, certifications, and credentials.

  • Recognize and honor the contributions and intellectual property of others, only claiming ownership of my own material.
